WorldEvents™ staff member raises over £1750 running London Marathon
A member of staff from Yorkshire based event agency WorldEvents™ has raised over £1750.00 for a local charity by running the 2009 Flora London Marathon on 26th April 2009. Chris Longstaff, IT Trainer with WorldEvents™ and keen long distance runner, completed the marathon in 3 hours, 42 minutes, beating celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsey, who has completed the race ten times, with ease. Chris was running the marathon on behalf of Overgate Hospice, WorldEvents™ chosen charity since 2007. Overgate Hospice, based in Elland, West Yorkshire, provides care for individuals with life threatening illnesses and their carers. The charity has been supported by WorldEvents™ over the past two years after the firm asked staff which local cause they would most like to support. Chris’ contribution has increased the amount raised by WorldEvents™ to over £9000.00 to date. As well as his fantastic effort on the actual day, key to raising funds for the hospice was Chris’ baking efforts over the past two months. By providing WorldEvents™ staff with a wide range of delicious goodies that they were encouraged to make a donation for, over £400 of the money raised was directly contributable to great baking skills and even greater staff appetites!
